Changes To Credit Reporting #1
Good News! Nationwide credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian & TransUnion) can no longer report on individual credit reports 50% of tax liens and almost all civil judgments. This is because tax liens and civil judgments are public records and under stricter criteria to match public records with credit reports, credit reporting agencies now have to match an individual’s social security number or date of birth with the public record. Since most tax liens and civil judgments do not include this information, they cannot be reported on credit reports. Contact Pine Street Legal if tax liens or judgments are still being reported on your credit report.
